No matter where you look, there are few obvious features of the Tobique Valley that are hard to miss……woods and water.
It is hard to imagine, in the 21st century, that when the first European settlers arrived in the Tobique River Valley that is basically all there was and the first task was to make use of the natural resources that were at hand and the clearing the forest either for shelter or farming was the first item of business.

In addition to forestry activities and farming, outfitting was also an important industry on the Tobique, including the rivers, lakes and woods.
